San Niccolò is located on the opposite of the Arno River from the Duomo, and has been preserved as a traditional Tuscan village. While the other side of the Arno is full of art and history, it has also gained a lot of modern and commercial shops. In San Niccolò however, it is a true step back in time with it’s traditional atmosphere. It is only a five minute walk to the Ponte Vecchio to get to the other side, but everything you need is right here! There are plenty of art exhibits, workshops, and restaurants to choose from during your stay here in San Niccolò. One of the main points to see has to be Piazzale Michelangelo. Also located in the area is San Miniato al Monte, a beautiful Roman style church. This is a beautiful area perfect for watching the sunset and the views of the city. This side of the Arno is also home to some beautiful gardens to give you a break from the hustle and bustle of the city.
